Ranma 1/2: Ranma No More Alternate History By: Dani Yanega yanega@mindspring.com (please respond to this e-mail address) Chapter Forty Seven The students enter the restaurant Ran Koh still glowing with anger. The others follow her quietly. Nodoka sees the state her daughter is in and goes to her. She gathers her daughter in her arms and can feel the rage drain from her. "What is wrong daughter?" Nodoka asks her as she strokes her hair. Ran Koh tells her mother of what happen with the Tendo girl. Ran Koh did not know that Kasumi was there and heard what happen. The breaking of china draws the attention of the students to the kitchen door. Ran Koh sees the look of shock on the gentle face of Kasumi. She pulls from her mothers arms and goes to the Tendo girl. "I am sorry Kasumi I would not have wanted you to hear that." Ran Koh tells her as she places a hand gently on her shoulder. "I am afraid she is getting worse, and I am positive that she is now going to try and make your life miserable. She prides herself on being the best martial artist in Nerima, now you and the Amazons have been showing her she isn't. She will continually challenge you till she beats you." Kasumi tells the young sorceress. "I am afraid that she may challenge me but her skill level is far to low for me to accept. I will not fight someone at her level. I also do not have the luxury of time for such foolishness, not with 'He Who Devours the Light' waking." Ran Koh tells the elder Tendo. "She will not accept that Ran Koh, I am afraid you have embarrassed her and she won't forgive that, or the fact you stole her title as the best martial artist in Nerima." Kasumi explains with a sad smile. "Do not worry about it now, daughter, you and your friends have much more important things to worry about." Nodoka tells her daughter as she walks up behind Kasumi and Ran Koh. "She is correct Niece, our warriors will be arriving soon and I think it might help in training them if we all start training with you and the Light Warriors." Ku Lon tells them while she and Mas Cra hops in on their staffs. "Yes I agree, Kasumi I also think you and the doctors should learn some of the martial arts skill, your group will be the most defenseless and 'He Who Devours the Light' will not be wanting us to have healers." Kasumi looks a little frightened then a cold glare comes into her eyes, as she realizes how many lives would be lost if the healers where not there. "I will contact the others and have them meet us here for our training." Kasumi tells her with a tinge of anger, she turns and heads into the kitchen to use the phone. The Light Warriors leave the restaurant and go to drop off their school supplies, and to change into their regular clothes. When Ran Koh and Ryoga walk into the building Sera is there to meet them. The two Tiger Sect leaders smile down at the happy tiger. They begin to laugh when Cali makes a death defying leap from Ran Koh's shoulder onto Sera's back. Well death defying in her mind anyways. Sera pretends to be frightened, he turns and runs sliding into a wall. All the Light Warriors begin to laugh as Cali puffs up with pride. Their laughing brings the other residents of the building. Who just stare at the five warriors with some confusion. "Sorry guys you just had to be there!" Ukyo tells them as they all head off in different directions to get ready for training. /*\*/*\ Akane storms into her home, slamming the door behind her. She kicks off her shoes and storms toward her room. She stops in the living room and sees her father and Genma playing shogi. She storms over and kicks the board over. The two men look up at her shock and anger growing on their faces. "IF YOU EVER MENTION THAT JERK OF A SON TO ME AGAIN I WILL SEND YOU INTO ORBIT!" With that shouted Akane storms up the stairs to her room. The two men watch her leave anger and shock still on their faces. They then look at each other then back up the stairs. Smiles break out across their faces as they jump to their feet and begin doing a happy fan dance. "They are in love! Our schools will be united and our children will marry!" The two men sing happily. "NO I WON'T! I AM NOT MARRYING ANY SEX CHANGING PERVERT!" Akane screams from upstairs then her door slams again. The two men pause in their dancing, they then start up again dancing out to the back yard. Neither man sees the two dumbbells falling from Akane's window. They pay no attention to her scream of frustration. They are however, soon very quite when the dumbbells hit each man in the head knocking them unconscious. /*\*/*\ The twelve tribal leaders and their new shaman watch as the twelve warriors board the plane. Their eyes hold a haunted look as they remember the ceremony and its out come. Each of the warriors carries a backpack with the barest of items, mostly what they would need to practice their art. They say goodbye to their chiefs and brother shaman then turn and board the plane. The ones left behind stare at the departing warriors, worry on their faces, as they realize they may not return. They watch the plane taxi to the runway, then watch it take off. They stay there at the observation window until the plane is completely gone from their site. They hang their heads in sadness while they turn to leave the airport. None say a word to the others as this is a somber day. They have sent twelve of their own off to die. When they return to their homes each of the twelve shamen begin to pray for their brethren, that they survive the war to return home. They all get the same response, white smoke turning to black. They all sense the evil trying to get to them through their prayers and break contact with the spirit world. /*\*/*\ The group of twelve male Amazons follows a guard into the throne room of Prince Her Rbe. The throne however is empty, Prince Her Rbe is standing at one of the windows looking out toward the Cursed Springs of Jusenkyo. The Amazons wait patiently for him to acknowledge them. Her Rbe turns to face the men and they gasp at the haunted eyes that look back at them. The leader of the Amazons steps forward his hands out showing no weapons. He looks at Her Rbe who nods his ok for him to begin. "I am Co Mbe I and the others are here as ambassadors from the Amazons. We are also sending a group to Mount Phoenix, as our way of life may soon be at an end if we do not join forces to fight against the coming threat." The Amazon tells Prince Her Rbe. Her Rbe who is about 5' 9", has dark blue hair with light blue streaks, his eyes are red and slitted like those of a dragons. He wears armor made from green dragon scales. He takes a deep breath and turns back toward Co Mbe, his eyes glazed over with thought. "Tell me Amazon, there is an evil coming that will destroy us all is there not?" Her Rbe asks the startled Amazon, who just nods. "We will be part of an army to fight this evil, is that not also correct?" Again the Amazon nods to the prince. "Tell me Amazon what you are permitted to tell me of this evil." Prince Her Rbe demands. The Amazon steps forward and reaches into a pouch at his side slowly so as not to get himself killed. It wasn't slowly enough a sword is at this throats and those of his companions. "I am sorry, Prince Her Rbe but the missive I bring from the elders can explain it better then I can." Co Mbe tells the dragon prince, who waves away his guards and holds out his hand. Co Mbe continues slowly to remove the packet. He hands it to a guard standing next to him figuring it would be safer that way. It was much safer for him and his fellow Amazons. The guard dressed in tiger skins hands the packet to his prince. Prince Her Rbe sits on his throne, opening the packet. He pulls out the documents and begins to read. If it is possible his eyes become even more haunted. When he finishes he looks up at the Amazons, an aura of depression around him. "Then it is true? The dreams I have been having of a great evil destroying our world, was not a dream?" Her Rbe asks the men, Co Mbe nods a look of sadness on his face. "Release them! Tell your leaders that the Musk will fight with the warriors against this evil. We will make ready to travel to Japan. Tell them the Musk will leave within the week." With that Her Rbe dismisses them, they are escorted with reverence to the Musk border. /*\*/*\ The twelve Amazons wait in the throne room all standing proud as they represent their tribe. They try to look around casually but the awe is evident in their faces. Many of the bird people have already heard of the visitors and have come to the throne room to see for themselves. Kima and the elder Calcoridan are with King Saffron, explaining the Amazons presence. A small Phoenix child rushes up behind Jas Min in an attempt to catch her unawares. Jas Min with a huge smile, turns and catches the child. The child is at first shocked then she registers the smile on the wingless woman's face and begins to giggle. Jas Min chuckles as well and tickles the child. When an older woman rushes forward and snatches the child from the Amazon's hands giving her a scowl of contempt. She examines the child for injuries as she walks away. "KARDA! Apologize to our guest, NOW!" The bird woman stops she slowly turns to face the voice and gasps as King Saffron stands at his throne glaring down at her. The Amazons gasp as Saffron stands before them he is 6' 5" with shoulder length blond hair and deep brown eyes with flecks of gold. His wings are black with gold and silver stripes. He wears a crown of braided gold and silver with a diamond tear drop hanging from the center of it. "I..I apologize f..for my rude behavior." Then she disappears through a door the child still in her arms. The Amazon watches her leave. She turns to face the King of the Phoenix people, his eyes flash with power. He stares around the room and the other Phoenix in the room they all shrink back slightly and quiet down. He then turns his gaze to the Amazons, he looks each of them over none of the twelve women let him see they are nervous. His gaze lingers on Jas Min, she steps forward. "Thank you majesty for agreeing to see us, if I may I have a missive sent by our elders." She bows to the king of Mount Phoenix, and points to the pouch on her shoulder. "it is at the request of my old friend Calcoridan that I speak with you at all. Hand me the missive of your leaders." Jam Min pulls out an identical packet to the one given to Prince Her Rbe. She walks up to the throne and hands him the packet he looks at the large leather pouch being given him. He then looks up at the light salmon hair Amazon. He takes the packet and opens it Jas Min steps back to stand with the other Amazons. They wait patiently as the king reads the missive his brows furrow as he reads through the documents. He turns to the Phoenix that brought them to him. He hands the document to Kima she skims the papers her eyes widen with shock and fear. Calcoridan reads over Kima's shoulder. His eyes first look with shock then the with interest, and scientific curiosity. "Do you know what is in those papers woman?" The king asks Jas Min. "Yes majesty we do. A contingent of Amazons has already left to join the army that is growing to fight the evil known as 'He Who Devours the Light'." She tells the leader of the bird people. "Do you believe it woman?" He asks her, Jas Min stares at the bird man, she sees something deep in his brown eyes, something he is trying to hide, but she knows what it is because she has seen it in the eyes of several of the elders. "Lord, whether I believe or not is unimportant, what is important is that several of our elders have had visions of the evil coming, just as you have. I know this for your eyes carry the same haunted, frighten look. Our elders ask that you join us in the fight.' She finishes the people around her gasping at her audacity, to talk to their king like that. Kima reaches out and slaps Jas Min for her insolence, Jas Min grabs the bird woman's wrist on its follow through. She pulls Kima toward her grabbing the front to the Phoenix's jersey. Jas Min lifts the bird woman, spinning she throws Kima into a nearby wall. "We were sent as ambassadors, we were not sent to be the punching bags of your people. We have delivered the information. If you do not intend to join this fight tells us and let us return to our village so the we may prepare for the upcoming war." Jas Min glares at Saffron, the other Amazons taking defensive stances guarding each others backs as Jas Min continues. "KIMA! You have over stepped your authority, you will head up the Phoenix contingent, and you will submit to the authority of the leaders of the 'Warriors of Light'!" Saffron tells an angry Kima as she rises from the floor. "Sire, I would like to go as well, I am sure they will need scholars to decipher the ancient texts. It may have information that could save many lives." Saffron looks at his old friend with a raised eyebrow. "Very well Calcoridan, you will head this mission, and Kima will be your second. Kima as a warrior from the Phoenix I expect you to honor your people by following the orders of these 'Warriors of the Light'." Saffron tells his advisor with narrow eyes, stopping any protest from her. Kima bows her ascent to her liege then turns and leaves the throne room. Her eyes blazing with rage. Calcoridan shakes his head while watching her leave. He then turns to the Amazons with a wide smile. "Tell your leaders we will head for this Nerima Japan, to meet with these 'Warriors of the Light'. Where can we find your leaders in Japan?" He asks the leader of the Amazon warriors. "They have a complex that is considered Amazon territory by the Japanese government called 'The Joketsuzoku Village'." Jas Min tells him, the Phoenix scholar laughs heartily. "I like that, maybe if we set up a complex with the same status we can call it 'Phoenix Mountain'." Calcoridan chuckles, he then turns to some of the guards. "Escort our guests back to their territory safely." The guards look to their king and he puts a hand on the shoulder of Calcoridan and nods. The Amazons are lead out by the guards that brought them into Phoenix mountain. After they leave Saffron turns to his friend with an unhappy look on his face. Calcoridan looks at his king with a sheepish expression. "I am sorry majesty, I over stepped my bounds, and I promise it won't happen again." He tells his king with his head bowed. "HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh, please friend you are to old and set in your ways. You will do it again and again, but _you_ are the only one I will allow to do so." Saffron laughs out while patting his friend on his back. /*\*/*\ At the center of the South Pole in an ice cavern deep below the surface the ocean. Shadowy shapes weave between ice formations, toward a black glow at the center of the ice cave. The sounds of chanting echo through the cave causing fissures in the icy walls to widen and threaten to break away. Twelve deformed monks circle a black orb at the center of the dark glow. The orb sits on a pedestal of frozen human limbs. The monks chanting circle the orb in groups of six one going clockwise on going counter clockwise. As the shadowy figures near the black glow, the monks absorb them into their bodies then force the energy from themselves and into the orb. The orb pulses with growing power and hunger, as it sucks in the power given to it. The ice structures around the glowing orb begin to glow with the black evilness of the orb, black lightening coursing around them. The lightening strikes out to the other ice pillars around it making a power link to help bring life to the evil growing inside the orb. The lightening bounces from one ice formation to another until all surrounding the monks and orb crackle with power, the lightening then shoots toward to orb striking the monks. The monks cry out in pain but continue to hobble around the orb, chanting the summoning spell. The monks then pass the power from the lightening onto the orb that begins to swell with power. The growing power travels down the pedestal through the whiteness of the ice caves floor. When the black power touches the ice it changes from the purest white to the deepest black. The energy breaks through the ice and into the ocean, sending out tendrils of evil to pull the life force from the ocean depths. While the power continues straight down into a chasm in the bottom of the sea. The tendrils have reached out and corrupted a school of Orcas that swim near by. The blackness deforms a fourth of them into a half human half whale monsters. They begin to swim around the gorge guarding against all intruders. The other tendrils surround the rest of the whale with glowing blackness and suck the life from the remainder of the pod. The screams of the whales can heard for miles under the ocean surface. When the tendrils pull away all that is left floating in the water are the withered husks of the whales their once life filled eyes now white and dead. The black surges out into the ocean searching for more life to drain and finds what it seeks. The guards swim low over the chasm as the life force from the thriving sea is channeled into its depths. A wall of black bubbles soon rises from the depths bringing with it twisted black crystal spires. The tops of the spires burst from the gorge growing and expanding out as it comes forth. The black energy recedes back up into the ice mass the spires pulling the blacken trail and any remaining life energy into itself, growing with each new addition of fuel. The black energy burst back into the cave surrounding the orb and spreading out into the cave. It envelops the chanting monks who begin to wither and scream in agony, as the evil absorbs their life force into itself. Deep in the center of the blackness a blood red glow begins to grow.
